Maria Klara Jarzyna
Maria is a Polish type designer and photographer. Immersed in the world of music from a young age, she began working with artists, record labels, and orchestras as a teenager and has continued ever since. Music's influence guided her recent transition into type design and continues to inspire her. She aims to create typefaces that embody both expressive qualities and universal appeal — drawing indirect inspiration from historical designs, filtered through her own sensibility.
Nai
Nai Type Family was created for a contemporary American jazz trumpeter. It began as a broader exploration of the interplay between type design and musical expression, seeking intersections and overlaps between the two, capturing contrast, beauty, simplicity, and subtle tensions.
Maria was drawn to the idea of working with extremes—two opposing poles within the same core, one representing the artist and the other the record label — exploring how they could inform each other, how similar or different they could be.
The type family consists of a functional display in two weights, both in Roman and Italic constructions, accompanied by a text style designed for small-sized printing, particularly handy for album credits on back covers.
