Maria Klara Jarzyna

Maria is a Polish type designer and photographer. Immersed in the world of music from a young age, she began her creative collaboration with artists, record labels, and orchestras as a teenager and has continued ever since. Music’s omnipresent influence has shaped her recent transition into type design. She works intuitively, striving to create typefaces that balance expressive qualities and universal appeal, drawing indirect inspiration from historical sources.

Nai

The Nai Type Family, created for a contemporary American jazz trumpeter, began as an exploration of the interplay between type design and musical expression. Maria worked intuitively, seeking intersections and overlaps between the two vastly different disciplines, capturing contrast, rhythms, and subtle tensions.
She was drawn to the idea of working with extremes—two opposing poles within the same core: one representing the artist, the other his eclectic record label.
The type family includes a functional display in two weights, paired with a text style designed for small-sized printing, ideal for album credits on back covers.
