Type and Media is a Masters program for type design at the Royal Academy of Art the Hague (KABK) in the Netherlands. The program gives us students a broad overview of the skills needed for a type designer today, exploring multiple mediums and skillsets. Among them are exercises in calligraphy, lettering, stone carving and Python programming. We also work on several projects designing alphabets and functional typefaces before the final semester which consists solely of creating our own typeface project. These projects are what’s presented on this page.

On behalf of the Type and Media class of 2022–2023 we wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of those who taught us, showed us their work or collections, advised us, or simply spoke to us. You have been vital to our success during the year.
