After exploring different ideas for her graduation project, Iliana decided to focus on taming some of her wild brush expressions and developed an experimental variable display type system. BLIAN started as a pattern script typeface that follows a cursive, flowing but broken construction, enclosed in itself, that later evolved beyond the pattern-like structure. The system works as variable fonts that grow in weight. Throughout the ideation process, Iliana exhausted different contemporary and conventional ideas, balancing her way between legibility and illegibility, and is still curious to explore it further.
